OUR CRUSH | Elizabeth Sulcer

WE CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT...

Elizabeth Sulcer

Elizabeth Sulcer is the perfect combination of beauty and natural-born talent. When she’s not styling the next Numero cover, she’s jetting to photo shoots around the world to work her magic for Vogue Italia, Dansk, and Cover, to name a few. Or better yet, taking a turn in front of the lens for Vogue Russia (self-styled, obviously).

As is the case with those destined for greatness, it was clear early on that Elizabeth possessed skills and a creative eye beyond her years. Her career trajectory began while she was still at RISD; she hadn’t yet graduated when she was offered a job working for the legendary Alexander McQueen in London, where she was exposed to the high fashion ideals that no classroom could teach. Later, as fashion editor at BlackBook, she styled the likes of Cate Blanchett and Amy Adams, making waves that got her noticed in all the right circles.

Today, Elizabeth continues to attract attention with her flair for the dramatic. Her creative vision is often inspired by the ‘70s and ‘80s and incorporates big hair and retro glam that has even tweens pining for decades past. Elizabeth approaches her work as an actor approaches their craft, with an inherent and unteachable combination of imagination and instinct. — Ariane

Miles Aldridge

The story is well known within the industry — he was dating an aspiring model and shot images of her that she submitted to British Vogue. It wasn’t the girl in front of the lens that caught their eye, however, it was the man behind it. It was the mid-nineties, the age of Kate and Linda and Naomi. And, as he has said, “If you were English and could hold a camera, people in New York would meet with you.” Thus began the illustrious career of the singular Miles Aldridge. So he took some meetings, booked some gigs and evolved his style, building a career on images lauded for their gripping theatrics, vibrant and even garish hues, and strained narratives. A blonde in polka dots hovers over a gas burner to light her cigarette. A secretary bends over the file drawer, her face blank as a mannequin. Candles melt as woman lies across a banquet table, her dress as silver as the scales of fish that lie on a plate nearby, untouched.
